Project Description

This steel tree sculpture stands about 15 feet tall and is home to a small neighborhood of birdhouses. The trunk and branches are rusted steel pipe with a plasma cut bark design. After a few months at the North Carolina Museum of Art, the tree made it’s way to a local neighborhood to join several other contest winning sculptures produced by local artists and designed by North Carolina students. The birdhouses are attached to small base plates, so they can be replaced as needed. Yes, there are birds livings here, and they have their pick of architectural styles.
